Some of the best shopping experiences in Tokyo are the chaotic ones. The vintage stores in Shimokitazawa filled with tightly packed racks, homeware stores in Shibuya with aisle upon aisle of every possible gadget you could ever want, toy stores in Akhihabara where every single thing seems to be a limited edition collectible. Coverchord is not one of them. Shopping in this Nakameguro boutique is deliberately un-chaotic if anything. The airy space is well-organized and uncluttered. A perfectly calm, design-forward retail stop that fits right into the elevated, creative rhythm of the neighborhood.
The curation here leans utilitarian chic. Think: functional, well-made men and womenswear, accessories and lifestyle goods catered to people who care a little too much about design. Here, it’s all about neutral colors, functional fabrics, understated branding, elevated basics. It’s a great place to get to know some Japanese brands, and to pick up something that is sure to make it into an everyday wardrobe rotation.
