Neel started in 2021 in a quiet Jingumae back alley, an old Japanese house turned three-story cafe with a spiral staircase and an oil painted pear for a logo. It’s since spread to Nakameguro, to Nakazakicho in Osaka, and, as of last November, a stripped-down roastery outpost in Kitaumeda. Each of the locations trades on the same premise: an aesthetic coffee shop that doubles as a slow-content backdrop for the vlogger crowd that frequents these hip neighborhoods.
The menu is pretty much as you’d expect: specialty single origin coffee and tea drinks and well composed light bites (they’re known for their butter sugar crêpe and katsu sando). But you’re there fore the ambience. Vintage woods, mid century accents, cozy warm textures and plenty of art. A worthy stop for any café hopping itinerary, in Tokyo and Osaka.
