studio arhoj

the quintessential copenhagen souvenir

Studio Arhoj started, in a roundabout way, in Tokyo. Founder Anders Arhoj studied ceramics there before bringing it back to Copenhagen, selling his first “ghost” figurine at a design fair. Today, the Skindergade flagship is a must-stop for any visitor to the city, tucked into the old university quarter a few steps from RundetÃ¥rn, where you can watch the glass blown and ceramics glazed as you shop.

The shop is an explosion of color. Densely packed shelves and tables of mugs, bowls, vases, and the studio’s signature drip-glazed ghosts in every colorway imaginable. It’s an easy stop for a souvenir or gift, but a hard decision with the abundance of choice. Aesthetically, it’s playful, contemporary, the kind of souvenir worth placing on a mantle that has come to be an IYKYK symbol of a generation of city travelers.

good to know

Go here for: a Copenhagen souvenir you’ll actually use, and the perfect gift

Don’t miss: the crystal blobs in particular hold their own outside the shop context

Amount of time to spend: 10–20 minutes, it’s a small space, so it’s more about deciding than browsing

When to come: any time is a good time but mornings and weekdays tend to be less crowded

Getting here: both locations sit in central Indre By, about a 6–7 minute walk from Nørreport Station (metro + regional trains)

Other things to note: Skindergade is the original HQ and flagship, with the full range plus one-off pieces and online order pickup. Study, on Nørregade, opened in August 2025 and is more gallery-style with exclusive pieces and a print department
