On a sunny corner of San Miguel Chapultepec, Marne Panadería is a constant buzz of activity. While their sister restaurant in Roma feels sophisticated, the bakery feels perfectly casual. A sundrenched minimalist dine-in space that spills out into the sidewalk, perpetually filled with a mix of local and foreign customers. The bakery operation is somewhere between artisanal and industrial in scale, with a constant stream of people coming in to pick up breads and pastries. But the best way to appreciate Marne is by sitting down and ordering from their food menu.

The pan frances (french toast) is decadent, as soft as bread pudding, and topped with fresh berries. Or for a savory option, the huevos revuelto (scrambled eggs) comes with a side of that thick brioche. The pastrami sandwich is a favorite for a reason. You really can’t go wrong with anything that has bread in it. Coffee is roasted in house, with beans from Pluma Hidalgo in Oaxaca. And of course, their pastries are an excellent way to round out the spread.
