In the slow-paced quiet of Minsheng community, Peckish fits right in. The design-forward shop was built to blend in with the architecture of the streets. Upon entering, it is an intentionally bright and minimalist space, fusing sleek modern materials with the bones of the existing building with exposed beams and columns that contrast with the light woods and pops of orange. The heart of the place is around the counter, atop which a pastry display holds tidy rows of perfectly laminated croissants in every shape and form, from traditional to playful, from sweet to savory, from classic to experimental. Certainly one of the best croissant bakeries in the city, and a popular destination for gifting.
Peckish is the sister bakery to Ivette Cafe, an Australian all-day cafe with locations in Taipei’s Da’an District as well as Taichung. While those have a more meal based menu, Peckish is focused on pastry. Come for the croissants, stay for the creative coffee drinks. And linger for a while, slowing down into the pace of the neighborhood.
