Since opening in 2009, Bakeri has become a mainstay in both neighborhoods, outliving the waves of retail turnover in their blocks and still attracting a constant flow of foot traffic from regulars.

Within its cozy hygge walls, old world charm with wood paneling and mismatched cups invite you to slow down. Walking into the space feels like becoming a part of the bakery, with customers huddled next to an abundant pastry case and coffee bar on one side and the open bakery in the back. The food matches the vibe: well composed sandwiches, homey pastries, with a dose of Scandinavian charm. The Williamsburg location is intimate, only one communal table that’s in constant shuffle. The Greenpoint location has more tables for dining in. Which you should do: order a sandwich, settle in with a coffee and a treat. Sit down for a European paced breakfast or lunch and people watching and romanticizing your best 2010s Instagram life. They’ve more recently opened a takeaway location in Ridgewood as well, which feels a bit more contemporary Scandinavian.
