three design shops

Artiseme + Deelive + Ones Concept Store

In recent years, the creative community in Prague have made a concerted effort to uplift a new generation of Czech designers and brands. While the city center is still crowded with tourist traps and copy-paste souvenir shops, there is a growing vibrant design scene spanning fashion, jewelry, glassware and decor. This has in part manifest in a series of design-forward concept shops all around the city. Each one feels like a gallery of beautiful objects, thoughtfully curated and a wonderfully slower alternative to the bustling touristy shops. They are the perfect stops to pick up a unique souvenir or gift and get to know the local design scene.

artiseme

Artisème is a bit of a destination. It’s an oasis hidden within the romantic Baroque splendor of the Velkopřevorský Palác, its entrance tucked away behind the Lennon Wall. The space, a former sala terrena that overlooks a centuries old garden, feels like stumbling into a collectors home. Artfully arranged shelves and a long table with beautiful homeware under the vaulted ceilings. It’s heavy on the porcelain and glassware here, tempting you to hand carry home.

deelive

Located in the grand SmetanaQ building overlooking the Vltava River, Deelive is a hub for contemporary Czech design and feels like a museum gift shop in the best way. The shop is well-stocked with everything from fashion and accessories to tableware and furniture, all designed and produced locally. As a design shop, they also have their own brand label and custom design services for interior design.

ones concept store

Ones Concept Store is, in its own words, a “shoppable apartment.” The bright, light filled footprint in the Újezd area of Malá Strana operates in a pop up model, dressing up different spaces within the shop to feature new seasons, themes and “rooms” refreshed biannually. From a fashion closet to a beauty and bath corner to a kids section, there’s something for everyone and plenty of local designers and brands to discover. It’s the kind of place that encourages slow shopping, perusing as a pace to really pick up, touch and interact with the items in the store that offer a peek into Prague’s contemporary creative soul.
