wulff & konstali

for building your ideal brunch spread

We all know about fika culture, but where Copenhagen shines is in brunch. Not like the way LA does brunch or even Australians do brekkie. Brunch in Copenhagen isn’t an event reserved for weekends with mimosas. It’s an everyday thing, a morning ritual extended to a leisurely affair. It’s an art they’ve perfected, aesthetically composed plates that serve as a beacon for all who can’t resist a pretty day time meal. It’s a philosophy they’ve exported, influencing brunch spreads far and wide.

Wulff & Konstali does breakfast and lunch, but really, you’re here for brunch. Brunch here is a choose your own adventure occasion. You’re given a little menu form to fill out, not for the indecisive heart, to piece together your ideal brunch spread. Here, you don’t need to choose between sweet and savory, five or seven small dishes presented on a tray that might just momentarily make you delusional enough to think you should recreate this at home. With locations spread across the city, Wulff & Konstali feels like a neighborhood spot that never gets old. The menu changes with the seasons, focused on fresh ingredients, but the format and pastry counter is reliably consistent. Each location feels a bit different, but bright and inviting with the classic Danish modernism. All of them feel like home.

good to know

Go here for: an aesthetic brunch spread any day of the week

Order this: the menu changes each quarter, but the best thing is to get one thing from each section for a balanced spread

Amount of time to spend: about an hour, service is pretty fast but you’ll be tempted to linger

When to come: weekends can get more crowded, so weekdays are better, or avoid peak brunch hours

Getting here: many of the locations are near public transportation

Other things to note:

  • Many of the locations have outdoor tables, perfect for a Copenhagen summer.
  • The Nordhavn outpost is located in Audo House, a beautiful furniture showroom and boutique hotel, definitely the best location for design snobs.
  • They also have a couple locations outside of the city, a beachy spot in Bellevue and a waterfront cafe in Hellerup.
