andersen & maillard

a destination for perfectly crafted pastries and coffee

There’s no shortage of choice when it comes to getting good coffee and good pastry in Copenhagen. But even in a city full of great cafes and bakeries, there are ones that stand out as favorites. Andersen & Maillard is one of them. With three locations around the city, this is a place where coffee, bread and pastry carry equal weight, treated as not just a craft but a precise science. The open kitchen feels as much a laboratory as it does a kitchen, mesmerizing visitors as they queue to order.

Here, the pastry case is miraculously restocked as quickly as it is consumed. The efficient service maximizes morning rituals. While many are grabbing for takeaway, it’s more tempting to sit down for a while. Classic Danish breakfasts, decadent seasonal pastries, and of course excellent coffee, roasted in house. It’s a routine spot for locals and a magnet for visitors on a city pastry tour. There’s no wrong choice at Andersen & Maillard, but to be safe, best to order some extra just in case.
