fujin tree cafe 富錦樹咖啡

the peace of fujin street in cafe form

Fujin Street is a special part of Taipei. A tree-lined street in the heart of Minsheng Community. It’s quiet (visually and aurally), peaceful. It feels residential, comforting like a neighborhood you grew up in. A stark contrast from the chaotic overstimulation of many other neighborhoods in the city. The street inspired the hospitality group behind a few popular spots in the neighborhood, Fujin Tree, with a Taiwanese restaurant and cafe. Over the years, it has grown to have several locations around the city, bringing a bit of that Minsheng tranquility into other parts of Taipei.

There are three locations for Fujin Tree Cafe around Taipei. Each one feels like a clean, minimalist oasis in that Japandi way. Bright and airy with casual seating arrangement inviting you to sit down for a bit and get comfortable. Coffee ranges from a selection of pourovers for the purists, to decadent and creative espresso based drinks and teas. And like any good Taiwanese cafe, there’s food to complement. A selection of beloved desserts like tiramisu and chiffon roll cakes and the classic custard pudding, and light bites like toast and salads and, because they can, ban (mixed) noodles for a full meal. Fujin Tree has managed to bring to the city a cafe that fits right into the cosmopolitan culture while slowing things down just enough to savor.

good to know

Go here for: a midday coffee break, a serene workspace, a small group hang

Order this: the fruit flavored iced americanos (guava and grapefruit are both great), or for a hot option try the oolong tea latte (which uses iron goddess oolong and espresso), or for the purists go for a pourover from their selection; and definitely get dessert

Amount of time to spend: 30-45 minutes for a short coffee break, or a couple hours to hang out – it’s rare to have a Taipei cafe without a strict time limit but don’t abuse it

When to come: weekdays are best for working, on weekends expect it to be more crowded, particularly in the afternoon

Getting here:

  • Zhongshan: about a 5 min walk from Zhongshan Station (green and red lines) use exit 2
  • Huashan: less than 5 min walk from Shandao Temple Station (blue line – use exit 6), and or about a 7 min walk from the Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station (blue and orange, use exit 1)
  • Fujin 353: about a 10 min walk from Songshan Station (brown line)

Other things to note:

  • Tourist Friendliness: there is English on the menu and staff can take orders in English
  • There is a 250NT or 1 drink order minimum per person.
