tinytail coffee

a tiny, sunlit cafe in the heart of old taipei

Taipei locals know that some of the most precious cafes are hidden away from street level. Up cramped stairs, or in this case, through an empty storefront up a creaky ladder that leads into a quiet haven from the street noise and city hustle. A bright loft lit up by skylights. Polished concrete and thrifted wood furnishings and thriving house plants, indie magazines and old records on display making it feel like a home, a place to linger.

The coffee shop is modest. A small coffee bar, often a single barista. A simple menu of “black” and “white” espresso offerings, beans sourced from around the world in a curated pourover menu. Pudding and basque cheesecakes to round out any Instagram-oriented cafe in the city. A peaceful presence that makes you forget about the outside world.
