// LOS ANGELES // ECHO PARK //
an instant cult classic in the form of detroit-ish pizza
If we were to rank pandemic darlings in the food scene, Quarter Sheets would certainly be in the top 10. What started off as, you guessed it, a pandemic pop up has quickly become an east side institution and pizza destination. It landed in this little nook off Sunset Blvd back in 2022 and became an instant cult classic, with the perfect old school retro-cool vibe and an ever present line around the block to prove its popularity.
Quarter Sheets fits a specific niche in the LA pizza market. There’s plenty of fancy, sit down pizza restaurants. And increasingly some imported and home grown slice shops. This is somewhere in the middle, a casual restaurant with “Detroit-ish” pan pizzas with airy focaccia-like crusts and crisp edges, and daily “Bar Pies” with innovative topping pairings. You come for the pizza but you come back for the cake. Because this pizza parlor takes dessert seriously. And whether it’s the slab cake or focaccia infused ice cream or seasonal tarts, the dessert is as much a headliner as the pizzas. Chef-owners Aaron Lindell and Hannah Ziskin are a double-threat, setting the new bar for a neighborhood restaurant. Because in a city where nothing is sacred, who’s to say you can’t worship Detroit style pizza followed by a slice of princes cake?
