chez alain miam miam

above average sandwiches with an above average wait time

Paris has never been a city that revolves around hype. Parisians are not the type to put up with long queues. But alas, the chronic Tiktokers have descended upon the city and the lines at Chez Alain Miam Miam prove that even if it is driven by (North American) tourists, “viral” food spots have become a thing in Paris. What started off as a little sandwich vendor within Marché des Enfants Rouges manned by Alain Roussel has become a fully staffed storefront with and frenzied destination for chronically online food obsessives.

In a culture that cares so much about bread, it’s hardly difficult to find a good sandwich. So when something proclaims to be the best sandwich in Paris, perhaps the attention is warranted. To be clear, the sandwiches are quite good. Crusty toasted bread, fresh sliced meats and cheese and a variety of other ingredients you can mix and match to your heart’s desire. Your patience is truly the one barrier to this place. Is any sandwich in this city full of great food worth waiting for upwards of an hour? Perhaps not. But the charm and quality of this place is undeniable.
