Smørrebrød is all over Copenhagen, but few places do it quite as delightfully untraditionally as Selma. And probably even fewer places do an entire set menu of smørrebrøds. The Michelin Bib restaurant keeps the format simple: smørrebrød and local craft beers (and house-made snaps!). The open faced toasts come in over a dozen forms, each so artistically and beautifully plated like edible contemporary art, you might not even recognize them all to be smørrebrød. The ingredients draw from seasonal produce and contemporary flavor profiles, emphasizing not only taste but also textures, elevating the smørrebrød to a refined culinary experience.
While the upstairs is reserved for the tasting menu, the cozy lower level is perfect for a more casual a la carte meal. Regardless of which dining experience, the dishes are presented in a beautiful way that allows you to savor each smørrebrød and appreciate the layered ingredients coming together to a perfect bite. Despite the size, they are deceivingly filling, so if you don’t make it for the tasting menu (which has smaller portions and 8 courses!), best to come with a group so you can share bites.
