To call Tula House a plant shop is almost an oversimplification. Tula is, technically, a plant shop. It’s not big like a garden center. It’s not a specialty shop known for exotic or specific plant groups. It’s a nicely curated shop that offers enough variety to satisfy most city dwellers, but also a botanical design studio offering consultations, installations and maintenance for indoor and outdoor gardens (a look at their portfolio and you’ll get a sense of the company they keep: from cool creative agencies to art galleries to beloved Brooklyn restaurants).
When it comes to the Greenpoint shop itself, there’s pretty much everything you’d need. Plants organized and labeled based on the light they need. An Arid room that includes some rare cacti and succulents. Pots and planters of all sizes and a breadth of gardening tools. Tula is entry-level friendly, but also a community that draws in experienced plant lovers. The staff is super helpful and knowledgable, making for a shopping experience that is a reminder that some experiences just can’t be replicated online.
