Juno the Bakery occupied my mind long before I set foot in Copenhagen. Long before I had even booked the trip. So going to this bakery was a core part of my Copenhagen itinerary. The petite corner shop is pretty discreet, if not for the line perpetually out the door. The signage is subtle, and only a tiny courtyard with some tables outside. Inside, you feel like you are stepping into a baker’s world, just meters away from where the action is happening in the ovens, the magic of bread filling every sense.
Everything is good at this bakery, unsurprising given it was opened by a former pastry chef at Noma. The star of the show is the cardamom buns, but their pastry case is getting stocked almost as quickly as they go, with a variety of Danish pastries, viennoiserie (their almond croissant is covered with an almost comical amount of slivered almonds and I never want it any other way), and beautiful loaves of sourdough bread. You really can’t go wrong no matter what you get, and it’s no wonder Juno is beloved by both locals and pastry-seeking visitors.
Around the block is Prolog Cafe, a little coffee shop that has some seats inside, and also seres a selection of Juno pastries. (Juno, in turn, sells Prolog beans).

Go here for: the danish pastries of your dreams, and good coffee
Order this: of course, the cardamom bun, but they also do great laminated pastries
Amount of time to spend: the bakery is takeaway but there’s often a line so give yourself 15 minutes, 30 minutes for sitting down for a bit at the cafe
When to come: morning is better, and weekdays are better
Getting here: it’s about a 10 minute walk from Nordhavn station
Other things to note: They sell Prolog coffee at the bakery, and Prolog coffee sells a selection of pastries. So if you want to skip the line and have more of a chance of snagging a seat, go to Prolog around the corner.
