Los Angeles has no shortage of sun drenched, bright and airy day time cafes. Cafe Telegrama just happens to be the latest one to join the roster. Hidden in plain sight on a drive by strip of Western, in that weird part of town that real estate agents are trying to sell as “Melrose Hill” but is in reality just the few blocks west of the 101 that feel not quite Hollywood, not quite Larchmont and not yet Ktown. But that’s actually a +1 for the cafe, notably unchaotic, popular but not too crowded, with as decent a parking situation as you can ask for in central LA. Cafe Telegrama feels, to its core, LA. The ambience is tastefully minimalist, well designed in a way that blends into the space so you don’t think about it, you just think about the sunlight pouring in and the high ceilings that make for a lovely spot to catch up with a friend or read a book.
The coffee and food are on par with any decent all day cafe in the city. Nothing worth going out of your way for, but everything tastes as good as you want it to be. They have breakfast-y options (all the classic culprits: from avocado toast to soft scrambles to a breakfast burrito) and lunch-y options (salads, sandwiches). The coffee and tea selection is One could easily spend an entire day here, particularly on a nice day when you can sit out front or grab a table in the shaded patio.
