Rosetta is the kind of place that would probably be as popular in any other major city as it is here. We all appreciate a good bakery, and a beautiful restaurant, a respect for culinary craft and artistry. And with international recognition by Michelin and World’s Best, it’s no wonder Rosetta has a spot on every Mexico City restaurant guide.
Rosetta is a three part endeavor. There’s the restaurant: a beautiful airy, plant adorned and light filled dining room serving up plates as beautiful as the ambience. There’s the second floor salon: an exquisite speakeasy serving up classic and creative cocktails perfect for a pre- or post meal drink. And then, of course, there’s the bakery just down the street with a perpetual line down the block.
The Mexican elements in Rosetta are subtle but present in the seasonally evolving menu. Local ingredients and flavors shine in the form of Italian and other global dishes that make for a dining experience that captures familiar comfort in a fresh, delightfully unexpected way. Every dish at the restaurante, every baked good at the panaderĂa is created with finesse, crafted to the perfect bite. No matter what you order, no matter what meal you come for, no trip to Mexico City is complete without a Rosetta stop.

Go here for:Â a fancier lunch or dinner at the restaurant, or a quick breakfast, lunch or pastry haul from the bakery
Order this: the restaurant’s menu changes seasonally, but be sure to get at least one pasta; for the bakery, you really can’t go wrong with anything in that pastry case, but the conchas are a classic and the mil hojas de frutos rojos (aka a napoleon, with fresh berries) make for a decadent choice, don’t sleep on the bakery sandwiches as a casual lunch option
Amount of time to spend:Â about 20 minutes or so for the bakery, an hour or two for a sit down meal
When to come: for the restaurant you’ll need a reservation, for the bakery, come early for a shorter wait
