You have to know what you’re looking for to get to Tilt Coffee. Unless you live in one of the buildings around it, you can’t simply “stumble upon” this place. In fact, going there you almost feel like you shouldn’t be there, like you just strolled onto some campus without checking in.

The coffee kiosk quite literally seems to grow out of the ground. There’s one little shack for ordering, and another with some seating. Both have ample windows making for a bright space despite the compact structure. There are also some tables outside, and some seating on top of the shack (sounds weird, but you’ll understand when you see it).

Their menu is simple but they do their signature coffees and teas well (seriously, their cloud latte is no joke, there’s a reason why they’ve developed a cult following despite the strange location). But the best part is that it feels insulated from the rest of downtown, so you can pretend you’re at a sunny park somewhere not in downtown LA.
