// LOS ANGELES // MELROSE //
a minimalist aussie café that fits right in on melrose (west of fairfax)
So you’re driving down Melrose and realize you could really use some caffeine. But you’re not emotionally prepared to deal with the local Alfred crowd and definitely want to avoid the pink-wall-tourist-type spillover at Carrera Cafe. Where do you go?
That’s right, you go to Point Five, an elegant Australian day time cafe that blends in perfectly among the furniture and fashion strip of Melrose just west of Fairfax. If you didn’t look closely, you wouldn’t even realize it’s a cafe, but that’s what makes it a gem. It’s small, but well-curated. They have a simple menu of espresso drinks and light breakfast and lunch fare. It’s rare for any non-local to “stumble upon” this spot. It maintains style without being overly styled, as many things in LA tend to be, which is what makes it special.
2020 update: It looks like Point Five quietly closed early this year. Get you Aussie cafe cravings filled just down Fairfax at PCP.
